Guinea pig ELISA kits for plasma and sera samples are used to study human genes through the guinea pig model (Cavia porcellus), also called the cavy rodent model. After mouzes and rats Guinea pigs are easy in maintained laboratory animals. cDNAs of Guinea pigs are also very popular.
This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8) has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8) and unlabeled Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8) (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8). After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8) in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of Cholecystokinin 8, Octapeptide (CCK8) in the sample.
